The Netherlands (De Lier/Gendt) 4 June 2017 – Pot plant breeder De Eeuwige Lente joins Dümmen Orange. This adds a strong Saintpaulia portfolio and sales of other ornamental plants such as Euphorbia milii to Dümmen Orange’s range.
The new partnership gives customers worldwide access to a wider and better range, responding as it does to the trend among growers to consolidate and to the growing influence of the retail sector. The investments in breeding will also boost development of the assortment and will enable the group to meet the changing requirements of the various markets worldwide.
Europe is still the biggest sales market for Saintpaulia cuttings. The global market is growing and still has many opportunities to offer, especially in North and South America and Asia. Unrooted cuttings production will stay at the current production site in Indonesia.
Clemens Wittenberg, owner and general manager of De Eeuwige Lente: “I am happy that my products are now part of the Dümmen Orange range. The opportunities I have seen in terms of breeding will provide an even better, wider assortment. This will also enable me to better serve my existing and potential customers all over the world.” Clemens remains responsible for further developing the product at Dümmen Orange in order to achieve these objectives.
Harry Kloppenburg, managing director at Dümmen Orange: “Saintpaulia and Euphorbia milii are beautiful products with huge potential for existing and new customers. They add even more depth to our range for our customers and their customers in turn. I am looking forward to working with Clemens and his team and using and enhancing their wealth of experience globally with our network and our breeding techniques.”
