Dümmen Orange brings a large basket of innovations to IPM

Dümmen Orange is once again presenting striking innovations at IPM in Essen. This year, the leading global breeder is highlighting new additions to its fully peat-free Poinsettia range, and introducing novelties in the Dahlia, Coleus, and Pot Carnation segments.

Poinsettia ‘strong reds’ range: strength and variety

The ‘strong reds’ Poinsettia collection—Imperial Red, Freya, and Grande Italia, is now accompanied by the three promising additions of Noblesse, Rapid Red, and Nordic Star.

Rapid Red sprints into the season with a mere 6.5-week response time, making it the prime choice for early season sales. Its large cyathia, V-shaped habit, and robust branching appeal to consumers and traders alike. Versatile across various pot sizes, from mini to standard, it offers flexibility in cultivation.

Noblesse boasts naturally sturdy stems and robust roots. Its V-shaped habit allows for high-density cultivation, while its heat and cold tolerance promote sustainable production. With medium to large bracts in a vivid red, it's ideal for the standard 12 cm pot size, as well as mini, midi, and maxi formats. An 8-week response time makes it perfect for the key marketing period from late November to early December.

Nordic Star, with a 7.5-8 week response time, fits the mid-season segment perfectly. Its good branching and V-shaped habit suit high-density cultivation, catering to various sizes from mini to maxi, providing a wide range of options.

Going back to the roots: 100% peat-free

Dümmen Orange is now offering Poinsettia young plants in 100% peat-free Targa rooting trays. Besides numerous advantages in tray handling and logistics, the resurgence of the Targa tray has resulted in a significant improvement in quality. This advancement enables the production of 100% peat-free Poinsettias.

The new varieties have already undergone testing and selection for peat-free production. Noblesse and Imperial come highly recommended for peat-free cultivation, delivering an exceptional end product that meets the demands of both retailers and consumers seeking 100% peat-free Poinsettias.

Dahlia Summer Bees: a summertime delight

The new Dahlia Summer Bees series promises a reliable crop with significant sales potential. It’s not only ornamental but also a vital food source for pollinators from summer through autumn.

Coleus Downtown: bold foliage for a new look

The new Downtown series in the Coleus range features multi-colored foliage, adding a bold touch. Available in eight special, multi-colored small leaf types, these upright varieties have a short cultivation period of 6-8 weeks from rooted plug to finished plant. Their robust branching makes Downtown an easy and reliable product to grow.

Pot Carnation highlights: Strawberry Eyes and Viva Magenta

Strawberry Eyes and Viva Magenta mark two top varieties in Dümmen Orange’s Pot Carnation range. Strawberry Eyes stands out with exceptional flower markings. Easy to cultivate and highly resilient, it thrives in various climate conditions and pot sizes. Viva Magenta, an exceptionally resilient variety, flowers early and offers high uniformity, making it attractive for profitable commercial cultivation. Its extravagant shade of pink catches the eye.
