As a Breeding Assistant Rose, you play a key role in the execution of breeding plans, support data collection, and contribute to the development of new, high-performing varieties. Your work directly supports Rose cut flower breeding and helps us deliver innovation, quality, and value to our customers and partners worldwide.

Your tasks and/or responsibilities include:

  • Support the execution of breeding plans for Rose;
  • Maintain and update selection data using breeding software tools;
  • Conduct greenhouse phenotyping using established protocols;
  • Prepare trial materials, including lists and labels, in alignment with breeder instructions;
  • Assist with hand-pollinations and controlled crosses in the greenhouse.

Your profile

You play an important role in bringing new rose varieties to life. You are a hands-on and accurate professional who enjoys working together with colleagues in a lively, practical environment. You like to take responsibility, can easily switch gears when needed, and stay calm and positive even during busy periods. With your eye for detail and team spirit, you help ensure that every step in the breeding process runs smoothly — contributing directly to beautiful results that make a difference. 

Furthermore you:

  • have a Bachelor’s degree in Plant Breeding with at least 1 year of experience in a comparable role; 
  • are fluent in English (both written and verbal); Dutch is an advantage; 
  • enjoy a mix of greenhouse and desk-based work;
  • are motivated to learn all aspects of Rose breeding at Dümmen Orange.
